INSCRIPTION

Here lyeth the Body of
MARGERY
the wife of John Gayer
of Whiteftone Gent who
was Buried the 28th day of February 1679

Since man's compar'd to an inuerted tree
To this bleft foule, that name applied be,
Sweet words, pure thoughts, good works with her endear'd
Her leaues, her Bloffom and her fruit appear'd,
Her Pith was Verture, Charity her Rinde
One Verdant Branch, from her is left behind,
Death hath not cut her downe, who rather is
To be a tree of life, in Paradice,
Short was her life, yet liue's fhe ever
Few were her daies, yet dyes fhe neuer,
She breath'd a while, then went to reft
God takes them fooneft, whom he loueth beft.
